RE: Google Earth

Is there a web site like "google earth", that posts pictures in real time. Most of the pictures on google are a year or two old. There is a program called Earth Browser that has real time cameras. It's available for the Mac, and the PC. Get it here: Earth Browser

RE: iMac Question

1. Is there anything wrong with using the headphone jack? 2. Am I missing something about using the speaker jack with the adapter that I should be doing to make this functional? It seemed to work with the old round speakers. 3. I plan on updating this Mac to a new iMac soon. Do the newer iMacs have a standard 1/8" jack for speakers or do they still use the smaller jack? Thanks Ron 1. Is there anything wrong with using the headphone jack?-----No 2. Am I missing something about using the speaker jack with the adapter that I should be doing to make this functional? It seemed to work with the old round speakers.---I don't know 3. I plan on updating this Mac to a new iMac soon. Do the newer iMacs have a standard 1/8" jack for speakers or do they still use the smaller jack?----They have a standard jack, both for the input, and the output, or you could use USB speakers, like I do.

RE: Question for Mac users????

AIM should work on both windows and Mac, I believe. I have AIM on my Mac's, but it doesn't do video conferencing yet.

RE: Question for Mac users????

I have two sons, one lives in Portland and the other in Chicago. The son that lives in Chicago has a Mac. We all have webcams that we do video calls with. Well since my son went with a Mac we haven't been able to webcam with him. He can't figure out how to load Windows live Messenger on his Mac.. So my question is, is it possible to load Windows Live on a Mac? We all have (had) Windows Live and really like it and hate to change web users. If it is not possible, what would you recommend we use for both a Mac and Windows XP? Thanks for any help. Becky You didn't say which Mac's they have. If they are Intel machines, then just load Windows on them, and use Windows live Messenger on them. You can load Windows on PPC machines too, but you would have to use third party software to do it. Or if there is a Mac emulator out there for your PC, then you could use IChat on the Mac side, which both of your boys got for free on their Macs.

RE: wireless mouse died

I need a new wireless mouse. It is a Dell wireless mouse and keyboard. I went to target and got a Microsoft Mouse and it will not work with the keyboard. Anybody know what will work with the wireless keyboard ? I guess I could call Dell but would rather get it locally. Tom I use a Logitech keyboard, and mouse. Ellen, and I have them on both her's, and my computers. We like them.

RE: We Added Our Solar and Wind Generator To Our Off Grid House

John, I bet you get some really dark skies for some great views with your telescope.:) Yes, some great skies for telescopes. I bought over $3000.00 worth of eyepieces for it. Here are some pictures that I took of the moon: Moon Pictures

RE: We Added Our Solar and Wind Generator To Our Off Grid House

Someone posted photos a few months ago of their solar powered cabin. http://johnleveritt.smugmug.com/photos/282002668_6uwn3-M.jpg That was me. My wife and I built it in 1990. If you want to see more go here: Our Cabin

RE: Dancing cave man

I really don't like the cavemen. I will never buy Geico Insurance because of them, and that stupid lizard. Doesn't GEICO know that the caveman show on television only lasted 6 episodes. So maybe the Cavemen aren't the way to go in advertising.

RE: Intel to skip Vista upgrade

My wifes cousin, and her husband both work for IBM, and IBM doesn't allow Vista on their corporate computers. And I went to my doctors office the other day, and they are still using XP Professional on their network.

RE: Sears Canada hits rock bottom

What can you expect from K-Mart? I understand that now they don't have a lifetime warranty on Craftsman tools. I've heard that too. Larger tools like torque wrenches especially, so I bought my last torque wrench from Lowes.

RE: Sears Canada hits rock bottom

I wonder who the sam hill is running things at Sears? K-MART runs things now. I don't know about your town, but most K-MARTS went out of business around here. I have quite going to Sears, just as I quite going to K-Mart.

RE: Garmin Software

Not mine - that is the thing I don't like about it. The good thing is it ALWAYS works, just not necessarily on what you want - a good map (GPS) program & MS Money ! Maybe Garmin eventually will solve 50% of my Mac short-comings. Garmin is slowly but surely coming around to Macs. They have already released: Bobcat, Mapinstall, POI Loader, Web Updater, Map Manager for the Mac. And the last time I got an updated map from them (City Navigator NT V8) for my StreetPilot 7500, it installed fine from my Mac. So I think that they will release Garmin PC for the Mac soon. Here's a link to Garmins Mac Software: Mac Software from Garmin Or if you can't wait, run to Best Buy, and get a cheap $400.00 PC, just to run that 1 program.

RE: iPhone2 July 11th

To bad it's on AT&T's cheesy network or I'd switch myself. That's why the IPhone is going 3G. AT&T now has 3G service (I have it on my laptop with AT&T's 875U USB card). Now the service will be on the new IPhones, because they now are 3G capable (or at least when they are released). Yes, but even where they say they have 3G it is spotty at best, I live in the San Francisco Bay Area, and they won't confirm or deny if they offer 3G here, they won't say which market at all, they only give generalizations. but I digress, since I have a blackjack and use their dataplan, Here in Livermore, I get 3G at the sports club, but not at my house, in Hayward where my wife works, she gets 3G at the burrito shop, but not at the convalescent home she goes to. When I drive the opposite direction toward the central valley the same thing happens, you get 3G in one place but not another, all within the same town. Now when you are on 3G it is great, when you are on the EDGE network, it crawls, and when trying to download email it drops out. When you call customer service, to complain about dropped calls. they told my wife it must by the other persons phone, when she tells them she was calling me, who has another att phone, they then don't know what to say. I am waiting for our contract to expire. My wife is on her 3rd defective blackjack, after a week of arguing with them, they are going to replace it with a moto Q, hopefully that will help with her problems. it was not that long ago I was singing there praises, but no more. Try this: AT&T 3G coverage I looked up Livermore, and San Francisco, and they are quite well covered with 3G.

RE: digital picture frames

Thanks for all the replies. We also liked the SV-1011 Kodak. We are going to start full timing in July and the DW wants one for all her pictures. I agree it is a good idea. Amazon has great prices Kodak SV-1011 and the Digital Spectrum 10.4-Inch Multi-function Digital Photo Frame .Thanks again. Dave We bought both of our Kodak picture frames from Amazon, and we have never looked back.

RE: digital picture frames

We have the Kodak SV-1011 picture frames in 8 ", and 10" sizes. We bought the 8" first, and it was to small, so it now resides in the MotorHome, then we bought the 10", and it now resides in the house. We run both with pictures on SD cards, and we are extremely happy with the Kodak name.

RE: Costco

Yogi Berra said it best, "Nobody goes there anymore because they are so busy you cannot get in." Well, if nobody goes there, then why are they so busy? You would get along real well with my wife! She also has no sense of humour. Nope, I won't say it.
